First day

45kms cycled.

So today was a bit of an early morning start. We loaded up our trusty bicycles and pedalled to the Adelaide city bus Depot. The Sealink bus was very easy to board with our Bicycles (we had booked our seats plus bicycles in advance), and the bus ride to Cape Jervois was pleasant and we got a preview of things to come with a whole lot of Kangaroos to be seen on the way.
At cape Jervois we loaded our bicycles onto the ferry, nestled alongside the cars and trucks in the vehicle deck (again no worries), and enjoyed the 45 minute boat ride to Penneshaw.
After arriving in Penneshaw we cycled to American River, where we camped for the night at the council compground on Tangara Drive on the waterfront.
The cycling today started with a moderate long climb out of Penneshaw, which was a good warm up for our legs! The rest of the day was filled with lovely rolling up and downhills, and a sweet descent to end the day into American River.

Campground info: This campground cost $5 each. Facilities: sheltered campsite, toilets, warm showers (modest flow!), and small cooking shelter.
